This map has been designed for campers who enjoy free/independent camping. Free camping includes National and State Parks which may attract a fee.
This free camping map has been designed so that anyone is able to add/edit/delete places. Please ensure accuracy when completing the location.
It was launched in August 2008 with the initial help of many individuals from a few caravanning forums.
Remember that this site has been designed for you. Please feel free to contribute by either adding new sites or modifying those sites already there with more accurate or thorough information.
To view the map either click on the Australia picture to the right or "Map of Camping Sites" in the navigation bar.

I have never had a TV before in one of my vans but with the new van we are getting I have decided to put one in. This then led me to think of how much a pain it can be to setup the aerial as you don't know what direction the TV tower is or whether it is Vertical or Horizontal polarity.
I thought that there must be a better way.

You can now download OzCamps co-ordinates to your GPS. The file format is in .gpx format. GPX (the GPS Exchange Format) is a light-weight XML data format for the interchange of GPS data (waypoints, routes, and tracks) between applications and Web services on the Internet.

Note this is intended to be basic starting information to free/independent camping.
To be set up for free camping does not have to be expensive or difficult. In effect there are three things to consider when free camping (or perhaps the better term 'Independent Camping') over going to caravan parks.
