Head out along the Boonah Rathdowney Road. Turn left onto Newman Road. Then look for the turn off onto Waterfall Road, this is a gravel road. This is an excellent campsite. It is very well protected from the wind. Most times the creek is running. Plenty of room. Probably would fit around 40 family sized tents. There are absolutely no facilitys at all. Make sure you take all your rubbish with you or you can take it to the lake Maroon picnic area there are heaps of bins there. You will need to take drinking water with you. There is a very deep swimming hole only 150 metres walk from the camping area Free. Mens/Womens Flushing Toilets. Tank water (signed 'not for drinking')
Limted firewood
(Rangers dropped off Firewood while I was there (Australia Day Weekend 2012) Access from Dimboola: South-west 500m on Wimmera St across the river, left (south) 1k on the Riverside Rd, right at the T junction (signposted) 5k on the Horseshoe Bend Rd (2.5k gravel), signposted short track (gravel) on the left about 0.5k after entering the Park.
Situated in a large U bend, sites are spread along the circuit road with a grassed billabong depression in the centre and day areas on the river banks.
Each site has a fireplace, most have a table. Sites are in close proximity to each other and, as this is a popular local swimming hole, could be crowded at peak periods. (Ackle Bend camp ground 500m upstream)
The river height is maintained by a weir, features a small swimming beach and faces sandy bluffs and the Whail State Forest. The limited grass is mown daily by wallabies and inspected regularly by emus. Honesty Box; $14.00 site/night By Bradd
